I was given a book of Chenoch Lieberman’s art. Much of his work focuses on Jewish life, but it struck me that this was mostly from the male viewpoint. As a woman, I want to depict Jewish life from a female’s perspective. Additionally, I have always been struck by the miraculous versatility of hands. So, in this series, I paint women, in their Jewish lives, but with an emphasis on their hands.
